Special purpose ropes, like standard ropes, are made from sets of wires helically wound around a central wire in one or more layers, forming strands. These strands are in turn wound around a core or a core wire to form multi-strand ropes. In contrast to standard cables, special cables can be accompanied by a PVC sheath to protect the cable. Thus, there are several types of special ropes depending on the number of strands and wires and the core chosen.
